How to formally appoint your FTA-approved ASP through the EmaraTax portal before the 30 October 2026 deadline — complete step-by-step guide for QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Odoo users in the UAE.

InvoiceUAE is built by Infotree Computers LLC, a Dubai-based technology firm that has been implementing QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage 300, Zoho One and Zoho Books for UAE and GCC businesses for 14 years. Infotree is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Authorized Zoho Partner, Authorized Sage Partner, and holds Odoo Gold Partner status at the Gold level through an affiliate partnership. The team operates from offices in Dubai (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Bhubaneswar (India), and InvoiceUAE's ASP partner is TaxStar (FTA-approved).
EmaraTax is the UAE Federal Tax Authority's official digital portal for tax registration, VAT filing, and — since 2025 — for formally appointing your FTA-approved e-invoicing Accredited Service Provider (ASP). Every UAE VAT-registered business must complete their ASP appointment through EmaraTax before the applicable deadline to avoid penalties. If you have been filing VAT returns, you already have EmaraTax credentials — this is the same portal, with a new module added specifically for e-invoicing.
Many UAE businesses confuse two separate steps:
| Step | What It Is | Where It's Done | Time Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| A — EmaraTax ASP Appointment | Formal legal registration of your chosen ASP | EmaraTax portal (tax.gov.ae) | 1-3 business days to process |
| B — Technical Integration | Connecting QuickBooks, Sage 50, or Odoo to InvoiceUAE and your ASP | InvoiceUAE setup | 15 minutes to 1 hour |
| Business Category | EmaraTax ASP Deadline | Mandatory Go-Live | Penalty if Missed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue ≥ AED 50 million | 30 October 2026 | 1 January 2027 | AED 10,000 (first offence) |
| All other VAT-registered | 31 March 2027 | 1 July 2027 | AED 10,000 (first offence) |
| Government entities | 31 March 2027 | 1 October 2027 | AED 10,000 (first offence) |
| Repeat violations | — | — | AED 50,000 |
Missing the EmaraTax ASP deadline triggers a penalty of AED 10,000 for the first offence and AED 50,000 for repeat violations under Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025. This penalty is separate from, and in addition to, the AED 100-per-invoice penalty for non-compliant invoices. The EmaraTax system records the date of ASP appointment — late registration is visible to the FTA. However, late registration is still better than none: if you've missed your deadline, register immediately and contact InvoiceUAE to expedite your technical integration.
Go to tax.gov.ae and login with your existing FTA credentials — the same username and password used for VAT filing. If you've never logged into EmaraTax before, use your UAE Pass or the credentials from your original FTA registration.
Once logged in, find the E-Invoicing module in the EmaraTax dashboard — added in late 2025 following the Ministry of Finance mandate announcement. If you can't see this section, ensure your account has the correct permissions; the account holder or an authorised administrator can access e-invoicing settings.
Browse the official registry of FTA-approved ASPs within EmaraTax and select your chosen ASP. InvoiceUAE's partner ASP is TaxStar — search for TaxStar in the EmaraTax ASP registry, and confirm the selection matches the ASP you've technically integrated with through InvoiceUAE.
Confirm your selection and submit the appointment request. EmaraTax processes appointments in typically 1-3 business days. You'll receive a confirmation and a Tax Identification Number (TIN) linked to your chosen ASP.
Once you receive your TIN from EmaraTax, share it with InvoiceUAE during onboarding setup. TaxStar needs this TIN to configure your Peppol access point — without it, Peppol transmission cannot be activated.
InvoiceUAE and TaxStar confirm your Peppol access point is active. You can now enter the voluntary pilot phase — testing invoices through the full 5-Corner Model before your mandatory go-live date. Read the 5-Corner Model guide → to understand what happens next.
InvoiceUAE's onboarding process includes EmaraTax registration guidance as a standard step. When you sign up for InvoiceUAE:

If you have been filing VAT returns, you already have EmaraTax credentials.
No. EmaraTax registration is the formal legal appointment — a government record of which ASP you have chosen. The technical integration (connecting QuickBooks or Sage 50 to InvoiceUAE and your ASP) is a separate step done through InvoiceUAE's platform. Both are required.
A Tax Identification Number (TIN) is issued by EmaraTax after your ASP appointment is confirmed. It links your business to your chosen ASP in the UAE Peppol directory. Your ASP uses this TIN to configure your Peppol access point — without it, your invoices cannot be transmitted through the Peppol network.
30 October 2026 — this was extended from the original 31 July 2026 by the Ministry of Finance in May 2026. The mandatory go-live date of 1 January 2027 was not changed. Many competitor guides still show 31 July — verify current dates at mof.gov.ae.
You need to select an ASP as part of the EmaraTax registration process — the portal asks you to choose from the FTA-approved ASP list. If you have not selected an ASP, InvoiceUAE recommends TaxStar (FTA-approved) and can guide you through the selection before you begin EmaraTax registration.
The EmaraTax submission itself takes 15-30 minutes if you have your ASP already selected. Processing by the FTA typically takes 1-3 business days, after which you receive your TIN. Allow at least 1 week before your deadline for the full process including TIN receipt.
You receive your TIN, share it with InvoiceUAE, TaxStar configures your Peppol access point, and you can begin the voluntary pilot phase — testing real invoices through the full UAE Peppol 5-Corner network before your mandatory go-live date.
Yes. EmaraTax ASP appointment registration is a government process with no fee. The cost of e-invoicing compliance comes from your ASP and integration platform subscription — InvoiceUAE plans start at AED 299/month with a free 15-day trial.
